Melana Plains
!women! !women! !women!
I’m beside myself
I don’t know which way to turn
which eye to look from
which hand to hold my head
in weary disgust of all that’s being said
about you, about me, about us, the whole sea
of broken feminine, female, and womanly debris
we’re drowning ourselves and all of humanity
wasting our hearts on the sleeves of our vanity
leading our daughters like lambs to a slaughter
to a life of insanity with no dreams to barter
no hopes to cling to just disrespect and dishonor
what the hell happened to our virtue and our power
when did we decide it was fashionable to deflower
our goodness, our kindness our noble refinement
we are daughters of the goddess, sisters of the earth
we are mothers of all mankind, to life we give birth…
or to life we bring death, if we continue this rampage
of anger and wrath as we strike to lay shame
on the sun and the moon on the men and the rain
when the war that we’re waging is with our own pain
they didn’t do it, dear sisters, there’s no one to blame
we’re all in this together, all One and the same
the Creator is our father, 'human being' is our name
be the love that you seek! be the love that you claim!
!wake up! !wake up! !wake up!
